Where are we headed as a country?- Thoughts of a Frustrated Observer
Dismay. Disappointed. Let down. These are emotions I feel nowadays. I don't think I have ever been so frustrated in my adult life, as I have been in the past few months. Reading the news, looking at people's status on social media, watching the cacophony that is prime time news debates has all left me feeling mentally drained. The issue of farmer distress has been prevalent in India for many years now. This is not the first time that farmers have staged protests to sustain their livelihoods. As a young Indian, I feel ashamed that so-called prominent celebrities have taken it upon themselves to talk about issues on which they lack expertise to comment. If we are to waste time and resources on taking Twitter and celebrity comments seriously, I do not know where the intellectual vein of this country is headed. If we do not stand for the truth, what are we as human beings? If our dialogue about any social issue cannot be without hate or spewing conspiracy theories, how
